Remember when I stated that I was going to start posting the old stories on the blog in the “memory lane” category? Well that was almost a year ago and nothing much has been posted. Here is another random little story that I want to document for my great-great grandchildren and the children of their children’s children.
Long, long ago in the year nineteen hundred something, Martha & I went to breakfast. We each had one baby, Landon & Misty. We hit the weekend garage sales then went to Fatty Patty’s, a local restaurant that serves up hearty helpings of greasy goodness. As we were sitting there sipping coffee and visiting there was a huge explosion and the air was filled with dust & debris. Greatly alarmed, I dived to the floor with my baby and being a child of the cold war shouted something like “THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING!”. Seriously. When the dust settled I realized that it actually wasn’t a nuclear bomb. It was a poor, bewildered old man who forgot where his brakes were. He drove his truck right into the restaurant on top of a booth full of people and pushed the register counter into an accordion shape. Luckily nobody was badly injured.
The moral of the story? When old people drive you just might get a free meal. I love old people.
PS- someday I might have to post about the mental turmoil inflicted upon me by the public school district regarding the cold war.
Betcha can’t wait.
brings back such fabulous memeores…because as you know…
fatty patty is my nickname.
xo
LOL that is funny!!! Yes I remember playing and the Russians were always the enemy…
That is great! Is your Cold War mental turmoil from the public school system the same as mine? Does it have anything to do with diving under your desk?
Hilarious. James and I were almost taken out by an old lady driving way too fast in the parking lot of Party City.
Wonder if I would have gotten a free costume.
hehe That is great! Thanks for the laugh for today! =)
Oh….. that is a funny story! LOL. I do remember reading about it in the Reflector, it must have been big news back in the day! I do miss that big ol’ stack of pancakes.
