What a dreadful task family photos are. I had it all planned out weeks ago. I steamed the wrinkles out of the children’s clothes, scrubbed little faces, forced the big boys in the sauna and ordered Levi home from work at 3 pm. The school kids got home at 4 pm so I had very little daylight to work with. Nothing could go wrong. Yeah, I’m a dreamer and a glutton for punishment.
Things that went wrong:
- Violet cut herself with a shaver
- Levi came home late
- The temperature was about 2o degrees
- Edna the goat kept stealing licks from Violet’s lollipop
- We all got hypothermia
- The sun went down
- I had a nervous breakdown
The whole lot of us were thoroughly traumatized. I fumed for about an hour and then just dejectedly chalked it up to a lost cause. We are trying again tomorrow. Yeah, I am a glutton for punishment.
I am laughing so hard because I JUST went through that with my kids, 6 kids less than you. After 2 different photo shoots, I raised the white flag and I’m sending out blurry photos, yup, you heard me BLURRY Xmas cards. I stayed up until 3am the night before “preparing”, haha… Good luck tomorrow…

Regardless of whether you got great family shots or not, that one of Violet sitting on a chair with your boy??? pulling his hat over his head is hilarious! It looks like it sums up your photo session quite well! If it comforts you, I have plenty of these of my family and other families that I’ve taken as well. I hope for your sake that you have success tomorrow!
Yes! you probably saw on my blog that I tried too..I gave up! no pictures this year! Oh well..all that comforts me is that someday they will try to do this to and it will be such a great laugh for me and I look forward to that!LOL
Hee hee! I was going to try and take some photos of my 5 today. Didn’t get to it. Tomorrow for sure!! I hope you can get the gang all gussied up again and have a better experience tomorrow!

How about a still photo of each person and then do a card with multiple headshots? Why not?
