South Carolina

We rolled into warm & sticky South Carolina around lunch time.  My hands & feet swelled.  I felt like I was taking a sauna with my clothes on.  But that is beside the point.

First stop was my cousin Bonnie’s house.  This is when my GPS started to lie to me and it took us twice as long to find her.  (The second time it lied was when it brought us to a town that was supposed to have a Red Lobster.  When we stopped to ask the lady at the gas station where it was, she laughed.)  By the time we found Bonnie we had about 15 minutes to visit.  We guzzled our coffee and headed to Levi’s mom & dad’s.

We raided the fridge and visited for an hour or so.  Levi helped plant the Windy Ridge Evergreens.

From there we went to Loren(Levi’s brother) & Jodi’s Homestead.

We stayed with them, I love their quaint little farm and they always make us feel right at home. Thanks guys!

school-house

I spent Friday with Martha while Levi went fishing with his brothers.  We sipped coffee, had lunch & toured her school house.  They bought this 8000 square foot historic house and are remodeling it for their home.  Can’t wait to see it complete!

Saturday was Jon & Sue’s wedding so we spent the entire day at the church.  This photo of the happy couple was taken right after the vows.

As long as I kept busy I was okay.  Saturday evening while we were waiting for Matt & Martha to call we had quiet time.  I had just talked to the kids.  Violet was sad and the big boys were leading a life of leisure with no direction whatsoever.  At around 9 pm I panicked and told Levi that I needed to get home.  5 minutes & a hastily scrawled note later we were on the road back to Windy Ridge.  My most sincere apologies to the family for skipping out on you.  I knew you would forgive me or I never would have left;)  Feel free to come visit Windy Ridge and skip out on us a day early.

  1. Glad to see the pics from SC! Sometimes I think I could enjoy farm life…or living out in the middle of nowhere…pictures make it look so divine.

  2. Sounds like a fun, fast trip!!!

  3. that schoolhouse looks so cool..does she blog? she should and keep us updated:)

  4. I am sure that whole trip was bittersweet for you, and I would feel the same way. My husband just got back from a two-week vacation. Florida, Belize, Honduras, you know, all the beautiful diving one could ever want. But it was a few days too long for all of us. It’s so nice to be all back together under our little roof again.

And I am loving their schoolhouse. DH and I dream about converting something old like that. There’s a restaurant here that was converted from a train station and it is AMAZING! If I was a gazillionaire I would SO buy that place and put it at the top of a mountain and spend my days rolling down the mountain to be greeted with jars of fresh lemonade.

  6. Sounds like a wonderful trip! I ADORE renovations like that! I’d love to buy an old warehouse or schoolhouse and restore it, amazing character!

  7. Cool pics-may I ask what kind camera and lens you use? Thanks!
