Yesterday we had Rachael’s bridal shower here. I confess I had a couple mini meltdowns while getting the house ready. The little girls messed up right behind my cleaning. I washed the windows and the next thing I know Hazel is painting them all black with craft paint. I gasp. Her bottom lip trembles and she says “I didn’t have any paper”, my heart melts and I get some paper so she can paint up at the counter. Then I have a large paint mess on the counter and the little girl. Baby Jessie squeaks and I am distracted so I drop everything and pick her up and nurse her and change her and kiss her and coo at her. Thank goodness for Mom, little sister Tamason, my big girls and bridesmaid Chelsea.

Menu was tea cookies, tarts, fancy crackers, dilly dip, artichoke jalapeno dip(from good old Costco) and smoked salmon spread. For drinks we had glass bottles of soda pop, sparkling cider and juice. For games everyone wrote their name and birth day/month on a sheet of paper and whoever had the birthday closest to the wedding date won a prize. Another game: put long grain rice in a bowl with a bunch of safety pins. Each (blindfolded or eyes closed) person has 30 seconds to fish out as many pins as possible. This is much harder than you would think.

I so hear you! So many times I had two hours to clean for a showing when I was selling my house(s) and had many nursing/cleaning-up-catastrophe breaks! Sure makes it hard! (At least the oxytocin from nursing is calming.) 🙂 Looks like a beautiful time.
It was a beautiful shower! Sorry to hear you had a tough time getting ready, honestly, everything was lovely. You were a wonderful hostess and we so enjoyed getting to see your family and help celebrate Rachael! You have a beautiful home and family. 🙂
