The landscaper’s announcement that they were seeding the dirt yard prompted our last minute trip to the ocean. I decided it would be easier to leave than to try to keep the children out of the way on a hot day. Levi left at 3am to go fishing so it was just me and the kids. We all know how much I love to drive on the freeway.
I love detours. We stopped and let the kids climb the walls of the Historic Grays River covered bridge.
Jalapeno burgers & cheese fries at The Hungry Harbor in Long Beach. There is something irresistible about junky beach food.
Violet & Sabra are wearing the Gwendolyn Organic Ruffle Dress & Lace Ruffle Leggings.
I love the look of anticipation on Violet’s face in the bottom left photo as she waits for her turn on the carousel.

awww… so fun!! Would love to have another family weekend at the beach… been toooo long!!!
Looks like it was an amazing day with family. Gorgeous pics!
dont’ forget we have a house down there that we rent out to family and friends for REALLY cheap!!! LOL
Love seeing the girls in their Gwendolyn dresses and lace ruffle leggings… so SO cute! Wishing I had ordered that instead… but I know I’ll love what I ordered too! =) Everything is so cute, it was so hard to choose.
The beach looks so tempting! Smart move getting away from the house. Great pics.
Looks like a fun time with family!!!
Great Idea to get away before Hazel arrives. 🙂
Wonderful pictures. Looks like it was a Fun for all day.
and, what does my eyes behold… but some ruffles and lace. Love it! I agree Violets expression is priceless.
Le sigh, the Pac NW, love it!!!! Looks like an amazing day full of memories!
Love the beach!! Looks llike fun:)
Great photos…I love the beach photos! Hope you had a great weekend~ XO
LOVE the pictures! MUCH better choice than staying home with kids trying to keep them out of the way of the landscapers! A great memory vs. frustration — great memories should win every time!
~j~
What a great weekend!
That is a spectacular day…wish we could just head to the beach. Driving in to Chicago to Lake Michigan is just not the same…very very crowded.
I am still thinking a house on a lake would suit me just fine at this point 🙂
Hope you are doing well and feeling well. The headband is adorable and I am sure Hazel will wear it beautifully!
Take care
Janet
Some day I am going to meet you. I just have to meet a women who lives so gracefully with so many children, is so incredibly talented to create these clothes and photos, and quirky enough to have freeway phobias… AND you travel with all of them minus the husband! Seriously write a book. I promise to buy it. (Just make sure your book tour includes NC because I have a wee flying phobia)
Your photos and your family are beautiful! It looks like you had such a great time! The west coast is so beautiful…so much nicer than the Mississippi Gulf Coast where I am stationed 🙁 ….cant wait to see pictures of your baby in the beautiful headband! I love reading your blog and looking at all the pretty pictures!
Hi! Your pictures are adorable, but I had to comment especially on the one of your dad and your kids with the ice cream cones and all-just precious! Yes, once again your talent shines through:)
