I love slipcovers. They are a perfect solution for a boring home depot shade & so simple to make.
Not that the “before” is bad, it’s just not the look I am going for in the master bedroom. I wanted something softer, more romantic.
Step by Step instruction for dummies, because it takes one to know one. Most of you are probably thinking “DUH”, but this is for those of you that are like me.
Cut desired fabric in desired length(depending how gathered you would like it) & desired width. Make sure to consider seam allowance, hem & casing width.
Sew ends right sides together. NOTE: It is certainly easier to decide before this step if you would like to embellish with ribbon, lace, ruffles, etc.(unlike me, the queen of afterthoughts). Hem bottom raw edge.
For the casing I just folded the fabric over about 3.5″ allowing enough fabric to tuck under raw edge, the elastic or ribbon casing & a small ruffle above the casing. Remember to leave opening for the elastic or ribbon/drawstring….or you could be cool like me and just use the seam ripper after you forget.
Thread your elastic, ribbon or drawstring through. (I used silk ribbon)
