Here is the recipe I promised. Delicious by itself or with berries.
(Beautiful old Cake Platter available in the Flea Market Collection.)
Ingredients:
- 11/2 C. butter, softened
- 8oz cream cheese, softened
- 3 C. sugar
- 6 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 C.flour
Directions:
Beat butter and cream cheese in large mixing bowl for 30 seconds. Gradually add sugar, beating about 10 minutes or until light and fluffy. Add 2 eggs and the vanilla, beat until fluffy. Alternately add flour and remaining eggs, beginning and ending with flour, beating well after each addition. Pour batter into greased 10″ bundt pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until cake tests done. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove cake to wire rack, cool completely. Enjoy until you can enjoy no more.
Yummy, this looks so delicious.

There you go making me hungry again! I just got back from the store, making turkey kilbasa fettuccine. Also got the goods for ice cream pizzas and banana hot dogs, mmmm.

why o why o why did i pass up on buying cream cheese tonight?! i looked at it figured i wouldn’t be needing it soon & now this yummy recipe i COULD have made tom if only i had bought that stick of cream cheese!!
My dad has been making this recipe for years! Our family can’t get enough of it when he makes it. We all become hoarders!
This photo and recipe took me back to my Mom’s kitchen — literally this cake was baked each week and I can hardly remember a time when there was not one sitting on our counter. My brother, sister and I often complained as that it was always the “dessert” on hand — but guests and friends never left our home without asking for this recipe (and a slice “to go”).
That is self-rising flour isn’t it? Thanks..I can’t wait to make it!
