Another hasty self-portrait. Today marks my 37th year and Hazel’s 28th week here on earth. Today I feel the same as yesterday, like my cup runneth over. I have much to be thankful for and couldn’t ask for more. Except maybe a new fridge or central vaccuum… Or maybe upper arms that don’t jiggle… Perhaps […]

Three beautiful bucks prancing around in our fields this morning. Made me wish I had a nice zoom lens.
I should have known. When the donkey & the dog went racing past my office I knew that visitors had arrived. I had a sneaking suspicion that dad had brought his guests, Myron & Karla from South Dakota, through the woods to tour Windy Ridge. I was right. I instantly regretted spending the day painting instead of housekeeping. “Anyone […]
Violet loves Emili. It freaks me out a bit. She has absolutely no fear of animals. I am always afraid that Emili will accidentally step on Violet, so when I see her getting too close I will run out to warn her. Violet reacts by giggling and swinging off the donkey’s tail. Today was perfect in it’s own way. A productive, happy day. I didn’t get everything done on my list(not even close), but I had fun trying. A day devoted to feathering my nest & mothering. The winner is: CHRISTY LANNON Thank you so much for helping us name our baby girl! We cannot picture her name as anything but Hazel. Jean is my mom’s name and it goes beautifully as a middle name. Thank you so much to everyone that took the time to enter name […]
Just a quick post from our hotel room in Rawlins, Wyoming to let you know that we did not drop off the face of the earth in Tennessee. We have been on the road home since Saturday night and hope to sleep in our own bed tonight. That means we will need to drive over 1000 […]
Tonight we lay our heads in Tennessee. 2400 miles travelled, 300 to go. We should reach out destination mid-morning tomorrow. We spent today outrunning severe weather. Kept things exciting. This is what a lightening bolt looks like on the iPhone camera. I had the poor thing gasping as I furiously clicked the button trying to […]
