As soon as Levi heard that the tuna were 25 miles offshore he was gone. He came back last night with 35 tuna. Since then he has been canning tuna and the canner is still clanging now. I may go mad. He finds great joy in stuffing dead fish in jars, sealing them and lining them up in the cupboard. Lining them up is actually his favorite part(besides catching them, that is). I enjoy eating them.
Brother Ben has been canning all day too. He also has a smoker full of salmon out on the front porch, I am excited about that.
Last week it was Salmon & Crab. Or was it Halibut last week & Salmon the week before? Our nephew Evan went along for the first time.
Oooh I am jealous! I want some freshly canned tuna.. and some salmon, halibut, and crab… No fair, no fair! =) Thankfully my husband works with someone who goes to Alaska fishing each summer and I am hoping to buy a bunch of salmon and halibut from him. I’ll have to show my husband this blog entry.. =).. so he can be jealous too.. LOL. =)
seriously, what an interesting life you lead… mine seems so BLAH when i read your blog…
Now, as if you need something more to do, you can make cute little labels for his jars of tuna and show us. =)
YUM!!! Sushi!
i swear i love reading your blog. your life, you house, your business amazes me!
Wow—this just goes to show you should never stop learning in life. This is something I know nothing about…how interesting. So this is not frozen, smoked or refridgerated? Now you got my wheels turning. Just woke my husband up to ask him about this also and read him this post. He thinks I am crazy…first getting pregnant again so I can wear one of your maternity shirts and now I am asking him about your tuna…ha ha!
Levi needs to host a giveaway! What a talented family you have!
So jealous, love halibut!
Yummy! I think the next give-away should be some freshly canned fish from your hubby!
That is incredible!! Could you do retreats for husbands of your customers?? My Adam would be ALL OVER THAT!! Your life is so fun to follow, Jen!
Oooh…I’d be so entering that canned fish giveaway. There are few things Olive enjoys more than tuna, and in her deprived, city-slicker existence she’s only had Bumble Bee brand.
It’s a beautiful fish, very decorative and shiny–like hammered metal. But does it taste good canned/jarred? I like commercial tuna out of a can, either in oil or water, but is this different? Better? Different texture? Interesting!
Fun, fun! Amos has been into fishing so much this year. He would be way jealous. Junior and I went with him the other night and we caught a two pound bass. Nothing to brag about really, but it was our first catch ever. Yay!
Oh, fresh ahi!!! Scrum-diddly-umptious!
Oh fun!! Tim would love all of that!!! I like putting my canned stuff away, standing back and looking at all I’ve accomplished. I might be a little weird tho as when I put mine away I make sure the labels are all facing forward!! ;p
My husband would die of jealousy!
Great pics, too.
Again, you take such great pictures, they tell a wonderful story, the sea has offered up a great bounty and I’m sure you all will enjoy it!
darling captures of the boys…and their fish..
Yumm I want some! The stuff momand dad had was sooooo good Levi.
What fun!!!… Fresh halibut sounds absolutely devine!! We live no where near the ocean though… so I’ll just keep dreaming 🙂
It’s really cool that the men do the catching AND the canning.

Awesome pictures. Could you please tell me what kind of camera and model you have??? I love them! And I love the last pic!
You guys would love living here in Alaska. Plus, we get a PFD which helps! 🙂
