We are down to the last week of summer. This season was full and happy for us. The summer birds are leaving and the katydid is marching back and forth on the kitchen bench. The trees felled months ago are waiting to be cut up and stacked in the woodshed and the orchard limbs are heavy with apples.  I am ready to let this beautiful season go and welcome Autumn and the cozy sense of order that comes with it.
