One curtain down

living-nook1

One curtain down(or up?) and a billion to go.  I had a plan to make a simple curtain.  You would think that would be simple. My plan didn’t go as planned.  I started by tea staining pima batiste and it took me 2 tries to get it right.  It went downhill from there.  Screwy bobbins, crooked seams, frayed cording, thinning patience.  I ended up scrapping the first one.  I did manage to complete one and hang it, but it hardly seems worth it.  Perhaps I should just buy curtains?

Despite all that Violet loves this little nook.  We sit here to have tea and read our magazines.  She brings her dolly and I bring Hazel.  “It’s like a party!” she gleefully exclaims.  She daintily sips her tea while patting her dolly’s back and says things like: “So how are you today mommy?”

I am well Violet & how are you?

  1. Looks gorgeous!! Sounds like a lot of work though! Maybe the second one will be quicker and not have bobbin issues, etc.? And Violet sounds just adorable!

  2. hahaha, that comment had my husband’s information. . .

  3. Jen these are so cute! I love em!

  4. What a sweet little moment you guys get to share! I love the new curtain Jen, it just fits so perfectly. Maybe the next ones will be easier nw that you have one completed? Then again, it would be tempting to find some similar that are finished and be done with it. I know that feeling;)

  5. Love the curtain. Worth it!! Love your blog. How on earth do you have time to sew a curtain? I am talking supermom here!

  6. Darling little curtains…but I bet Target’s Simply Shabby Chic line has some similar balloon shades. Save yourself some time so you can have more parties with Violet and Hazel. 😉

  7. Love the curtains, but the moment with Violet overshadowed (punny, I know) everything else. What a darling. A true “window” (punny again – boy, I am on FIRE tonight) to your sweet world!

  16. I’ll never get over the calming beauty of windy ridge. My house is just cluttered and blase. Maybe one of these days I’ll win an HGTV makeover, ahahaha.

  17. How sweet! Oh to relax, cuddle, and read a magazine… luxuries that escape me too much these days. It swings back around, right? 🙂

  18. I LOVE your curtains!!! Don’t go buy some, except I know that would make your life so much easier! . . . Your conversation with Violet is completely darling. What a little sweetie!

  19. I think they look fantastic. Way better than my first pair of Roman shades. I will probably be doing it again once we move because roman shades have so much diversity. I love those strap hinges, too. Heck, I just adore your house and love watching the new things you create and how your family interacts. It’s the way it should be. Y’all are “folks.” 😀

  20. это все, что нужно!!!

  21. Поздравляю, отличное сообщение
