Farewell my boys

note-to-the-ocean1

Halibut season has begun.  Something Levi & our 5 sons have been anticipating all year.  They have left Windy Ridge for the Pacific ocean and there they shall remain (heart, mind, body & soul) until summer’s end.

I have not been out on the ocean with Captain Levi  for several reasons:

  1. I am deathly afraid of the mighty Pacific & the creatures it holds
  2. I am 100% positive I would spend the entire time puking
  3. When you vomit you are subject to ridicule and name calling.  You become a laughingstock for years to come if not for the rest of your live-long days.
  4. I don’t have enough muscle to reel in anything bigger than a minnow

Otherwise I would love to go!

PS-the photo above was taken at the Port Of  Ilwaco.  I used Bohemian Secret  “dark chocolate” action on this.  This print will grace the boy tee in the new Friday Harbor Collection

**I guess I should clarify…the boys are not gone ALL summer (though their hearts and minds are;).  The coast is a 2 hour drive and they are there off and on thoughout the summer and we (the girls)  also spend time at the ocean.

  1. Ahh, chummin’ for minnow. I’m with your reasoning to let the men hunt and gather. Let ’em have the chum buckets and monotonous swells, we’ll stay home and chop herbs for halibut!

  2. I do hope the Pacific Ocean takes your request seriously. Are they really gone until summer’s end….as in months from now?

  3. you guys seriously live a fairy tale life… isn’t it going to be hard without your hubby there this summer? you are seriously wonder woman…

  4. I love the photo with the boats,so pretty. Someday I will get all the bohemian secret actions 🙂

  5. amazing!!
sounds like they are living a dream

  6. I’m with you on the whole “boating” experience. Ironically, I love being at the ocean I just don’t want to be IN the ocean. I’m agog that they’re gone until the end of the summer. Windy Ridge is going to be sadly quiet for a few months. And so, because I’m nosy, do the little ones get homesick? What about school? What an incredible thing to bond with their father like that and he with them. Take care of yourself Jen!

P.S. I posted on an older thread but I’m sure you probably didn’t see it since I posted after you had several new threads. Could you tell me what size you typically make a newborn’s clothes across the chest and lengthwise? I love the new chocolate baby line. All the best–Jessica

  7. LOL, I like your letter!! Hmmmm…Tim has promised to someday take me deep sea fishing, as of yet I haven’t gone. I don’t know if I would get sick, I get sick on carnival rides, but only the spinny/dizzy ones. Don’t get sick boating on the Columbia or lakes soooooo…who knows. Guess I won’t until I try someday.

  8. Oh how jealous my husband would be.
Please post pics of any great catches so I can show him, HEHE

  9. For a moment there you had me worried! I couldn’t imagine all of them leaving you for four or five months! How lovely that they have such a bonding tradition that they all share. I would guess that, upon return of any trip longer than three days, they arrive a bit on the *ripe* side… Lucky you~
