A typical day

my-life

A typical day in the office.  A 2 year old ragamuffin perched on my shoulders with her scruffy toes propped upon my 37 week old unborn.  Violet is rearranging my unruly & neglected tresses while I go through emails.   I pick up my iPhone from my desk and snap a picture.   I capture the moment knowing I will look back on it as one of the best times of my life.

This morning I went to my OB appointment, a weekly occurrence now.  I lost a pound, hallelujah!  (because last week I gained 4!).

I am getting to that point where…

  • I think I would rather hold Hazel in my arms than in my belly.
  • I look downright freakish looking and my laborious waddle & protruding belly attract sympathetic stares.
  • I frantically try to get my nest in order, but tend to run in circles instead.
  • Having a foot or rump stuck in my left lung is a familiar feeling.
  • I pee more often than not.
  • Each foot features a different color of toenail polish because it is too hard to bend down(should I consider a professional pedicure?)
  • I buy little teeny tiny diapers and lovingly gaze at them.
  • I feel like I am in a magical moment in time, where after nine months of waiting we will soon get to meet the little creature that has been living within my womb.

  1. Oh I so miss those moments and wish I could have them back. Savor it all as this is why God gave us the miricle of life.

  2. I can’t believe Hazel will be here so soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like my day, I always have an Ady climbing on me. She prefers to pull my hand off the mouse to get my full attention, ehehe.
Not looking forward to those last weeks, but def. looking forward to holding my new baby in April!!!

  3. Oh Jen! Will you PLEASE convince Brian to let me have one more??? I just welled up in tears when I read this post…I am envious of your preggo state!

  4. You look tired and beautiful! Can’t wait to see her baby pics. Btw, I am glad I am not the only crazy woman who answers work emails with 2 little kiddos crawling on her lap!

  5. There is just so much love in this post. Like the others, I am so sorry it appears that I will never again know the joys you are experiencing right now. Ahh… the seasons of life. 😉

Thanks for this post — I wish every mother who complains more often than not about having her children at her feet all day would read this. 🙂

    SO excited for you all!

  6. Those last weeks..you love them but hate them! And then you love them in memories. And yes, get that pedicure. I always figure, even if everything else is not totally looking its best, shiny bright red toe nails brighten up the delivery look.

  7. *Sighs*

  8. Oh so familiar! My daughter does this same thing… she’s always climbing and loves to perch on my shoulders and sing while playing with my hair, no matter what I am doing. =) So soon that little Hazel will be here!

  9. So precious. You are so lucky to have that baby growing inside you. I truly miss that.
I had my last baby 19 months ago. Emersyn May. I dreamed of her, down to her hair color. I knew she would be my 5th and final baby because of my medical history ( I had to give myself a shot in my belly once a day all 9 months). I would still be having babies if I could. I have literally been pregnant 9 times. I am very greatful for my 14 year old twins (boy/girl) and my two little boys ages 6 and 4 and my baby girl 19 months old.
What a houseful but a joy full!
Goodluck with that new little one. Savor every moment, smell and sleepless night cuddling and rocking. Best times of my life.

    Sorry, I wrote a book…my hubby is out of town…lonely I guess.

  10. A precious time, enjoy it. Id go for the professional pedicure though :)I pampered myself during my last pregnancy with pedicures, facials etc and so glad i did as i didnt get a chance once my baby arrived.

  11. Awww reflections and insight..a beautiful thing!it will be soon jen! hang in there! lol

  12. so sweet! i can’t believe your almost done. and yea, go get the pedicure!:)

  13. You’re almost there! I love that you captured moments like these.

  14. Haha. This is funny you post this. I was just taking the kids to the park yesterday evening and it’s very close so we walked. On the way back home, both my little ones (2 and 3) were very tired. I was also walking our new puppy and the other kids ran off ahead of me. So my boy asked me to carry him while the girl perched on my shoulders, all the while I tied the dog leash around my waist. I must have looked like a mad woman walking down the street – a woman with a dog pulling her home with a kid on her shoulders and one on the hip!

Althought I despise housework and the messes kids make, I nag and get mad at times. I know that in the end, it’s all worth it and it goes by so very fast…

Love this post – one of my favorites of yours!

  15. I say go get a pedicure;-)

  18. ahh i do remember that feeling (feet in the lungs, not being able to breathe, having to pee every second) I kinda am missing it right now;) I actually have taken some photos of Barbaras belly but not many…I’ll share what I’ve taken soon.

  21. These are the moments life is made of and you seem to enjoy them well and not take them for granted. Way to go, Mama!

  22. Oh, I miss that. It is such a wonderfully special moment in life carrying life inside of you. Cherish these final days. She is coming so soon!

Most of my days involve Layla crawling all over me in some fashion. Glad to see that I am not the only one who works with little feet in her face;)
