A peek of the main house

I know you guys have been waiting so I will share some photos of our mess.  While taking these photos I realized we still have a ton of piddly stuff left to do.

My zinc counter top is WAY too shiny now, but after a few weeks of use it will take on a beautiful pewter patina.  The copper counter tops look like something from outer space at the moment, but will soon look like the copper sink in the island.  My gorgeous 48″ viking range will sit in the brick alcove.  Note the lovely pot filler.  Before this space was done Levi drew a marijuana plant on the wall to mark the spot.  A little awkward when you are trying to appear professional while giving the subs a tour.  ANYWAY…there is an electric oven, warming drawer and microwave on the side wall.  This island boasts two dishwashers, a plus in our household!

Another angle.  Excuse the untiled floor and ugly white outlet cover, those will change.  Over yonder is the quaint dining nook with smashing views of the mighty mountains.  Everything looks dark now, but just you wait, I will dress this baby up.  I didn’t take a photo of the huge counter to the left with a hammered copper veggie sink.  Yeah, we don’t mess around.   And I didn’t even get to the pantry yet.

Our living room with the unfinished hardwood floors.  This room also faces the amazing snow cap views.  Eventually this will open up to the outdoor grill area.  What you can’t see is the stone and wood columns and bar that goes in the kitchen.  Kind of cool because you can pull up to the bar and visit with the cooks(aka my 16 year old son, Landon).

A little sample of the rough-sawn trim work with hand forged…stuff.

The fireplace(one of 3 in the home) in the living room.  Wood burning with gas ignitor.  NOTHING like a wood fire!  Many a marshmallow shall be roasted here.

I will post more later.

PS- To the person calling me pretentious. If you knew where we came from and how we got here you wouldn’t even suggest such a thing.

I think you have built your home in the Spirit of Love, and it shows.

  26. beautiful house! there will always be mean spirited people out there! they just can’t grasp the whole glass is half full thing! Ignore them! You worked so hard and you deserve the best! LOVELY HOUSE!! i want to see more pics 🙂

  27. This home matches the words you write and the photos you share. What an exquisite home. I can’t wait to see what it looks like when you move in. Your details are everywhere. It must be such a joy to see this dream take shape.

  28. Jen, I LOVE your house!! It’s very much what I like. As for the person who said your pretentious she is very envious. People who know nothing about building your own house don’t have a clue that you can build a $300,000-$400,000 house for $150,000-$200,000. Thats what we did, we did 80% ourselves with help of our families who are plumbers, painters, etc. who do it for the cost of the supplies. Also slowly buying stuff off ebay and Lowes out of our pockets and not borrowed money! So enjoy your very well deserves house knowing all the blood, sweat, and tears you all put into it was worth it! AMEN! LOL!

  29. Wow, gorgeous house, would expect nothing less from such a great designer. Can you build me one too please! I will also need some mountains and beautiful views brought in as I live in Nebraska and our view are not that great! 🙂

  30. what a place! would love to walk through when it’s all done! Some people have nerve with pointing fingers hey?! I’ll look you up for ideas when I get to building my dream home!

  31. I like your style girlie! I get very caught up in the romantic notion of building. I can’t wait to see the finished product…keep up the good work.

  32. Oh I love this!
