Misty Dawn

misty-and-wyattMisty Dawn left Washington for South Carolina 11 years ago, when she was 7 years old. She is back for the first time.

Her mother & I met in New Hampshire, when we were 17.  We became fast friends and were pretty much inseparable until they moved away. Our first babies, Landon & Misty, were born 10 days apart. I witnessed one of her children be born and she was there for one of mine. We went grocery shopping and garage saling together.  We ate supper at each other’s homes and played board games til the wee hours of the morning. Our little ones were best friends. Sadly, since they moved we have only seen them a handful of times. We missed out on watching their kids grow up and they missed out on ours. Makes me sad.

mist-and-hazelWhen Misty and all her glorious hair walked through our door I was a bit confused on what to do with her. The hair was the same, but where was the little girl that like peanut butter sandwiches and swinging on the swing?  After pondering the situation, I gave her a hug and made her a hamburger.  Now to get reacquainted.

The kids think she is grand…I knew they would.

  1. She’s my cousin’s daughter, but how huge our family is I can’t say that I know her well at all. But one thing that I’ve always noticed about her at our annual family carnival is her gentle, patient, and helpful way with her sister, Summer. Even as a kid when you expect that she would be too busy with friends and fun to slow down, she has been a shining example of selfless love and care. 🙂

  2. Sounds like a fun reunion:))

  3. Awww what a cutie! cant wait to meet her!

  4. What a sweet sweet post. So nice that you kept in touch. Did you grow up in NH?

  5. What memories… Where does the time go?! Is it weird that I think Landon and Misty look like a cute couple in that photo. So sweet to have kept in touch.

  6. How sweet is this. I am glad they came for a visit. Did you and Levi get to visit them on your road trip when you were pregnant with Hazel?
