Barefoot & pregnant

After enduring endless hours of ridicule from Levi regarding the sad state of my feet, I have decided to dedicate my Saturday morning to fixing them up.

I briefly consider using my palm sander.

Instead, the kids & I drove to town to pick up the necessary tools.  Poor Violet has not been in public for so long that this was a wondrous event to her.  As I rolled her past the key chains, shoes, hoagies & roasted chicken she would gleefully exclaim “Oh pretty! Cute! Can I hold it mama?”

Over and over again.  On the top of her little lungs. In her chirpy little voice.  Melts my heart.

Now I just need to convince Levi that having a middle toe bigger than your big toe is actually a sign of intelligence, not a deformity.

I am the type of girl that finds a comfortable pair of shoes and wears them for eternity.  Or at least until my family starts begging me to burn them.  Like my wooden Mia shoes from Buckle.  Love these things.  I have walked comfortably for miles around the United States and Europe with these, how can I throw them away?

Today I must get the house ready for sauna company.  If I have time (which I will not) I will continue unpacking and painting/staining/decorating the house.  I am focusing on one room at a time, starting with my office.  I hope to have photos of the completed office for you next week. Hope being the key word.

  1. Yay!!! I am so excited to see someone with a larger middle toe like me! When I saw your feet, I felt very pleased because they remind me so much of mine (except more beautiful – mine are lucky to see the light of day and get a paint job like maybe once or twice a year – sigh.). And yes, it is a sign of intelligence. It must be. 🙂 Wishing you a wonderful sauna night that is completely fun and relaxing! 🙂

  2. I have the same toes as you! 🙂 Melaine

  3. LOL!! Your toes are just like my moms!! Crazy:).. I am the same way about keeping my shoes..if they work why get rid of them, right??!!:)

  4. Awwww…man, I soooo want to come to sauna!!! LOL about Vi’s excitement about being in town…Remember that pair of sandals you gave me loooong time ago? I think I wore them out, but they were so comfy!! I am to picky when it comes to shoes and really need some new ones…but ah well…

  5. Haha I had worn the same flip flops for four years and my foot was imprinted in them. I was quite sad that the dog got one last week and chewed it to pieces so i wont be wearing them anymore so sad.

  6. i really don’t know about the whole middle toe theory! seriously?
so glad you invited me over for a suana!
    xo

  7. I too have the same toes, seems like there are alot of us intelligent people out there! 🙂

  8. Ditto on the toes, I actually read somewhere what it meant, but I forgot. I’ll go with intelligence, though. And, by the way….I have actually used the hand sander on my feet before. Works great.

  11. At least you don’t have Fred Flinstone feet! My husband always says I could start a car with my feet.
    🙂

  12. Jen, you are unintentionally funny and I love it! I could have written this post. I am barefoot as much as possible as are my kids and they act the same way in public–mostly because I’ve reverted back to being a bit of a recluse since losing my job. LOVE it! The chairs look great btw. There’s a reason we don’t have light colored furniture at my house too!

  13. The fact that your two middle toes are larger than your big toe…certainly means your extremely intelligent and creative…What a hoot! Glad you had some time to dedicate to yourself (and your feet).
    Take care

  14. Brave brave brave! I cant be paid to photograph my feet. Then again, mine arent all that cute! Cute toes 🙂

  15. I am lovin’ those shoes Jen! I tend to hang on to things too. My middle toe is just a bit longer than my big toe so I would have to agree. It’s definitely a sign of intelligence;)

  16. I too hold on to shoes…especially the ones I can walk all over the US in! too cute…that remind me I need to sand my feet tonight and paint my toes for once, it has been way too long…by the way where do you find the energy to take care of all your sweet babies and host parties?

  17. My feet are just like your and and I’ve also had to try and convince my hubby it’s not a deformity.

  18. I read somewhere, that having a longer middle toe comes from having a Celtic gene.
