A glimpse of number nine

I went to see the doctor yesterday.  I was no longer nervous about miscarriage because I was back on Zofran full time after a 3 day break.  But then… the doctor could not find the heartbeat and he said my uterus felt more like 10 weeks instead of 12 weeks which I knew was not possible.  He scheduled an ultrasound for 3:30 pm.

Anxious mama guzzles 32 oz of water while she waits.

With my very full bladder and my husband in tow I arrive at my appointment.   I am called back.  My very full bladder and I climb gingerly up on the table.  We all hold our breath.  The tech puts the gooped up ultrasound thing on my belly.   Instantly we see the beating heart.

My husband and I beam.

We see tiny little fingers flexing and legs kicking.  We see a little tiny baby get the hiccups.  We see  the beginnings of a spine.  It is so amazing to us that a 2.5 inch baby can have all that!

AND the little sweetheart is 13 weeks old.  I am in love.

  1. Seriously just got teary eyed with relief there Jen, and what a beautiful US shot! Haven’t seen one so clear at that young of an age before.
Amazing how you feel you know someone enough via a blog/e-mail where their life really effects you, so so glad lil’ bean is allright, now to pick my stomach off the ground where it dropped when I read the first part of the blog. Hugs.

  2. I am so happy for you, Jen. I hope you continue to feel better. And I love your tech’s sense of humor with his/her captions. Fantastic!

  3. Amazing, just amazing. Makes me want another.

  4. I ditto Jamie. I feel like I have known you my whole life. Not just for a year only on a blog. I am sooo happy to see your little miracle. I am always amazed too. I love babies and so thankful your little one is healthy.

  5. Don’t you just love how our children can give us a scare, even from the very beginning! I love the u/s photo, of your little one. I also love how you labeled everything especially “probably guts” HAHA!

  6. That is precious! I will just continue to pray for your little 13 week wee one. Babies are just miracles. Hope your day is sunny.

  7. Oh Jen,
I have been clicking on your blog all morning …waiting.. Hoping… Awww what a relief. I am so happy for you and thankful for the invention of the ultrasound. May you continue to have many more throw-ups…spit cups and lots of love from your family and friends.

  12. Hi punkin noodle =)

  13. What amazing, incredible, joyful, sweet news!!!! Your heart must feel so full right now!

  14. Oh how sweet!!!! I am soooo jealous…hehe…hey did you know we are at your in-laws? Kids are loving it here!!

  15. Ohhh…what sweet relief! My heart started to sink down to my belly button when I started reading this post, but OHHH the glory of sonograms! And YOU got a lovely little profile shot — our baby wouldn’t cooperate at all for our sonogram. The tech finally determined that she was a girl, but never could get a pic of her little profile. Darn! I love the little profile shots because they usually give a clue as to whether or not the baby in utero will look like any of the siblings. Whoever they look like on the sono always ends up being who they look like for real. This little one remains a mystery. A stubborn mystery :o)

Now I have to go back and read your posts leading up to this one (it’s been a while since I had time to veg in front of the computer). Thanking God for you (and all of us who have grown to love you and your family through your blog) that everything is alright!

    ~Jill~
