We had guests flying in from across the country this year so we had to set the date for the festival in advance. Of course it rained. We lit the fireplaces, put the coffee on and kept the festivities inside. It was a cozy and relaxing day.
We piled baskets of crafts on the dining table and let them have at it. They definitely had at it. My poor table will never be the same. Paint, feathers, ships, airplanes, rhinestones, stickers, stamps, you name it, we had it.
A pot of spiced cider simmered on the stove making the house smell festive. We kept the food simple, apples with caramel dip(melt 14 oz of caramels with 8 oz of cream cheese, so good!), cinnamon chip scones and Deanne’s homemade nisu and bread. For supper we had a soup potluck(and more of Deanne’s homemade bread).
Kids of all ages went crazy over the masquerade masks and they became more elaborate as the day went on. It was fun to see what they came up with.
And that’s that. I’m off to scrub the dining table.
