23 weeks

may-2009-106-webI decided to forgo the self-timer and waddling to and fro.  Instead I opted for the self-portrait in the mirror.  Which ended up being just as time consuming because my sense of direction is non-existent.

rather than belly shots I got this….

and this….

may-2009-092-web1

Neither location was anywhere near where my bulging belly was parked.   The sheer concentration of this documentation left little room for trying to appear cool or sophisticated so it is what it is.

Further proof of my uncoolunsophisticatedness.  Not realizing that gentian violet(you know that obnoxious purple stuff used to treat thrush?) somehow got mixed into my hair pomade, I dipped my fingers in and inadvertently gave myself purple highlights that may never come out.

The dark circles under my eyes are testimony to how I feel lately.  Self diagnosed anemia & exhaustion.  I am working on that with an extra dose of iron, hopefully it kicks in soon.

PS-thank you ALL for the beautiful baby girl  name ideas!

  1. You look gorgeous! Your eyes have such depth (AND I DON’T MEAN DARK CIRCLES!) — beautiful! You have got to be the most beautiful expectant mom I’ve EVER seen! By the way, happy mother’s day to you! You rock!

  2. You are SO cute!!!!!! Oh my gosh, you are like a grown up version of Anna Sophia Robb. Love the purple highlights, I’ve tried the paint in blue. :o)

  3. You’re so pretty, Jen. I actually really like that first photo; very interesting.

  4. And actually I like the purple. It makes me think I should just color my hair instead of getting my nose pierced! Or, maybe I’ll do both!

  5. cute bump! i like your hair, it’s awesome even with purple;)

  6. I agree with these ladies….you look sooo beautiful! I’m diggin the purple too. Wish I could pull something off like that! People would look at me and think “She’s trying way too hard!” 🙂 I know it wasn’t intentional, but I say work it… because you can!

  7. you are too stinkin’ cute! She looks like a little basketball! So sweet Jen! Melaine

  8. You may not feel it… but you are absolutely gorgeous!

  9. You look absolutely fantastic! One can only wonder how the gentian violet got in the hair goo… that stuff is so messy! Get your rest and take your iron, easier said than done, I know! It’s so hard when there is a million things you could be doing. One of my favorite ways to get iron was to put black strap molasses into cold (raw) milk… yum! Although does calcium block iron? I think it might so it might not do as much good as it should, it’s yummy though!

  10. The baby names were the most fun I’ve had in a while – ha, and a welcome distraction. Now I’m just dying to hear the final decision. Even though I know that could be a while, I have been checking back daily (admittedly to the point of stalking), obsessing over it. I have bet myself on what I think you’ll choose. Pathetic really! Meanwhile, I have no name for my own baby girl. Either way, you look beautiful even with purple hair and dark circles, which I am no stranger to these days – same diagnosis. The iron isn’t really cutting it for me though. I am still napping before bed…..! I wish you much more luck with it.

  11. Jen,you look beautiful!! You will forever remind me of my beautiful mother:) Really,it is amazing how much you look like her and April:)…your baby bump is darling!!

  21. Simply stunning.
As Mary Poppins so famously put it..”Practically perfect in every way”.

You do not look old enough or tired enough to have 8.5 children! ;D
I have 5 ( 3 boys, 2 girls). I loved being pregnant but I completely know where you are coming from. Tired, can’t sleep, can’t get comfortable…. but we know it’s so worth it.

May you continue to have a blessed pregnancy!

  22. LOL…..you can always make me chuckle!!

  23. WHOA! You are one gorgeous momma! 9 kids??
    Wow, just wow.

  24. Jen,
I was going through some boxes of photographs today, and out of an envelope fell a picture of a precious little baby girl wearing a black and white dress with a red bow in the front, on the back of the picture is written “Sabra Eden 1999”. I used to scan the Reflector for birth announcements and would cut them out and send along a card, I love reading and knowing about all the new babies. I will have to scan the Reflector on-line and once again watch for your announcement!! BTW you look great,
God’s blessings on you and your wonderful family.
    Wendy
